“To provide an efficient, unique, cost-effective recruitment solution to all our
clients by understanding their business needs, maintaining close personal
contact and providing a true value-add service.”
Abel Staff are the leading UK experts in recruiting staff from the new EU
Accession States for UK clients. The founder of Abel Staff has
considerable experience within the UK recruitment industry.
He has worked at board level for over 10 years for a UK multi branch
recruitment company which he himself established, developed and expanded
3 fold. Abel Staff was born from his close ties with the Baltic Countries.
We operate in the following industry sectors:
Abel Staff recruit from the countries that make up the 2004 EU Accession States
of Central Europe; Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Czech
& Hungary – where educational standards are high and English language skills are
widely taught.
Why do we recruit from the EU Accession States? Apart from the fact that in the
UK many industry sectors are faced with skill shortages, these countries
historically have high unemployment levels, well trained skilled workers who
work very hard for a much lower wage. These people offer commitment, stability,
and dedication and are very honest and respectful individuals. They are
primarily only interested in coming to the UK to work for financial gain and experience,
through the opportunities that the UK job market offers.
We have by far one of the largest candidate databases of any recruitment
company operating in these countries, which we use to select suitable applicants
according to our clients particular requirements. We are continually building
this database via extensive ongoing recruitment campaigns within the countries
we operate in.
Our overseas recruitment is managed by our own recruitment consultants through
our network of offices, all of which have access to our unique internet based operating systems.
All of our candidates have been carefully selected, screened and vetted.
Each candidate is fully advised on the registration & documentation
requirements for working in the UK, all documents are translated into English.
Each candidates English language skills are graded according to the requirements of each individual vacancy.
Unlike many recruitment companies, Abel Staff does not accept every applicant
who contacts us. In order to be taken on as a candidate, the applicant must meet
our high standards throughout each of the following stages:
Upon receipt of enquiry from an applicant – our vetting procedures apply. We
establish that the applicant can conform to our standard procedures:-
- ID verification to establish that the applicant is legally permitted to work
in the UK.
- The applicant is informed that an up to date “medical certificate” is required
from their GP, stating that they are medically fit to work in their respective
trade in the UK.
- The applicant is informed that an up to date “police clearance
certificate/letter” is required from their local police stating that the
applicant does not have a criminal record and/or is a wanted person.
- They are able to provide a minimum of two written employer references and/or
one employer and one character reference from a professional person that has
known them for over three years and is not a family member.
- Provide any documents that may be required respective to their application covering; proof of qualifications and training, work experience, driving licences & entitlements and that they have a good standing in their profession.
- Grade the applicants English language skills, according to the requirements of
the job. We have developed our own in-house English language tests.
Each applicant is fully interviewed to ascertain; personal circumstances, work
history and levels of experience, qualifications & training that are required in
the UK, assessment of applicants English language skills, medical fitness to
work in the UK & their overall suitability for the UK vacancy and working in the
UK. The applicant’s master copy ID is inspected and copied (conforming to UK Asylum &
Immigration Regulations). According to the applicant’s trade,
we may also carry out skills evaluation tests, for the
particular job sector.
Until all our standard and client vetting procedures are fully completed the
applicant is being processed. By this stage we have a very good idea on whether
the applicant will be suitable for the Client vacancy and working in the UK. The
length of time to process applicants can vary according to many factors. Short
listed applicants are released to Clients for consideration. According to
individual Client requirements, Clients can;
- Instruct Abel Staff to recruit, select and appoint suitable applicants on
their behalf.
- Telephone interview short listed applicants.
- Interview short listed applicants in their home country, which we can arrange
- Arrange for applicants to attend an interview in the UK.
Following completion of stages 2 & 3, successful applicants receive job offers.
Abel Staff work with Client and applicant in all areas to ensure that all Client
procedures are fully completed by the applicant ready for the applicant to start
their new job. We agree and organise the applicants travel to the UK and
applicants start of work date. All applicants are groomed for their arrival in
the UK with regard to full welfare support. Abel Staff are with the Client and
applicant each step of the way, resolving any issues encountered.
